Remember when Steve Jobs brought us Siri? The IT-girl that was happy to answer your random questions, happy to bring some joy in a life of user. Well, actually she is still happy to answer your questions about weather or Games of Thrones. And not only Apple, but all other giants — Amazon, Google, and Android are all welcoming user to hire a little helper built-in inside a device.
This user’s life improvement happened because of the technology called “voice recognition”. It changed a lot of things since it appeared, — a lot of things both in user and business lives. There are many business sectors that adopted voice recognition functionality: from banking and financial sector to healthcare and media sector.
Online Banking
Online banking user visits just two to four pages per visit, which lasts less than three minutes total. In general, users will sign in, view their account information, and then sign out. So with the use of voice recognition technology, banks applies easier user experience: no need to make more clicks, just say some words. User can access a website or even an application, and ask a question: “What is the currency status for today?”. And bank’s Siri, I mean — bank’s virtual assistant will give an answer. This answer can be a voice through the headphones or plain text — whatever is suitable for user.
Travelling
It comes as no surprise that virtual helpers can ensure user with a great scheduling services. “Siri, remind me about a dinner with Frank this evening!”, yells somebody somewhere in order to get rid of notebooks and quick notes. It’s comfy. It’s fast. Well, and sometimes it’s loud.
But what if we talk not only about scheduling? There weren’t too many apps that help user to navigate through mysterious cities via voice within recent years. But they are appearing now: from Hound to iBookAir, voice travel application are slowly changing the business. Having implemented communication channels with, say, Uber, these apps provide user with a whole another service level. You can command to find the nearest cars from Uber, and get close estimations of when the car will arrive and what way to the destination point will be the shortest. This is pure awesomeness.
Medicine
Well, you may be the doctor. And sometimes there’s a deal: you do not want people get mad at you and your handwriting. That’s where voice recognition based software steps in — ready to help you. Many doctors have started using their phones or digital devices to quickly record their notes, which can then be transcribed to text for patients and their own records. If a doctor would rather continue using a pen and paper for their notes, nurses or doctors assistants are now speeding up the process of entering those notes into their internal system via voice recognition technology.
